“...the Christian life in its fullness is far more than being active in a Christian community, affirming a certain set of beliefs or adopting a particular behavior pattern. These are a secondary result of the primary reality of a life engaged in an ever deepening union with God in love.”
— M. Robert Mulholland Jr., The Deeper Journey: The Spirituality of Discovering Your True Self

What is Spiritual Direction?

What is spiritual direction? In some ways it’s a bit of a misnomer.  Spiritual directors are not trained experts who tender out spiritual advice – or “direction.”  (That’s not to say , however, you won’t receive direction… it will just come from a different Source.)  Spiritual directors are listeners and facilitators. They ask good questions and then they listen deeply.   They prompt you to take your questions, anxieties, hopes, dreams, gifts and confessions before God. They don’t try to fix or heal you but continually point you the One who can.   Spiritual direction happens as we talk to God and reflect on our relationship with Him in the presence of another person (or a group of people).
