Deriving its from the name of the Apostle Paul's companion, Barnabas, which means "son of encouragement," Barnabas is a prayer group devoted to hearing and discerning God’s voice. It is both a learning cohort and an equipping ministry. Their mission is twofold: a.) to grow their own capacity to hear and discern God’s voice for themselves and b.) to the equip the larger body of Christ to hear and discern His voice. Barnabas does not so much teach people how to hear God speak, but to help them identify the ways they already hear Him speak. They meet once a month as a core team to cultivate individual and corporate discernment. They also host monthly “Open House” meetings where anyone interested in learning about hearing God’s voice is invited to receive teaching and experiment with listening prayer. In addition, they travel to many different venues - churches, homes, coffee shops and conferences to teach about hearing God.
